Proposition 8 Protesters!

I am appalled!! You know, usually I like to stay out of politics. I don't know a whole lot when it comes to our government, but I am a big believer in the constitution and peoples rights and freedom of religion, speech and ect.. I believe that all Men and Women should have "the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of (their) own conscience, and allow all men to same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." (The Articles of Faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) I am no "hater". I believe all Blacks, Whites, Jews, Mormons, Catholics, Gays and Lesbians and so on, should have the right to CHOOSE their lifestyle. I try very hard not discriminate against anyone. I am not perfect, not even close, but we are all God's children and should treat each other as such. With this, I understand that as individuals we will not all agree on the same thing. That is what makes this world great and this country even greater. We are given laws for the protection of all. We are given opportunities to vote on certain issues. If we lose our vote, we even have the right to protest. But when we Lose, I feel it is our duty as human beings to take a step back and continue to treat people how we would like to be treated. This morning I found out that a large group of Gay/Lesbian activists protested at one of the "Mormon" Temples in L.A. over the loss of proposition 8. In this video you will see Glen Beck about 4 weeks ago give us a little insight to this proposition.

I watched a clip of this protest, and as Glen Beck "forcasted", our church is now being labeled as and "extremest hate group". This made me sick. Check it out for yourself. You don't have to watch the whole thing, but you get the idea.

What baffles my mind is that these people are targeting the "Mormons" when there were so many others involved. We were being called a "cult" and "bigots" for standing up for marriage between One Man and One Woman. This proposition was supported by so many other religions and persons and I feel we are being unfairly targeted. To see a list of Prop 8 sponsors go to www.afterellen.com/node/39787
A Long time ago Larry King interviewed our former President of the Church Gordon B. Hinkley and asked him about our stance on Gay Marriage. Here it is.

I have listened many times to this man. He has preached nothing but good righteous principles. I know there are many out there who do not believe in my same beliefs, but that is ok. I do not judge them for it and call them names and rip them apart for it. I appreciate our differences and would hope they do the same. I am sorry that this is such a long Post, but I couldn't just sit back and keep quiet while so many others are speaking out against what I believe.

  1. Well Anna, you're absolutely right. Parker spent a couple of hours reading comments about Prop. 8 on the internet yesterday, and there were all kinds of comments like, "My friend can't show his partner that he loves him because of this new law..." The porposition doesn't say you can't be gay!! It doesn't say you can't show your feelings towards that person however you want to, it JUST SAYS THEY CAN'T GET MARRIED. And the people voted, not just the church. They didn't ask the mormon church to define the principles of marriage, they asked the people to vote and they did. And I completely agree that these people are so big about not being discriminatory or prejudiced about people, but that's EXACTLY what they are doing to any organization that supported this proposition.

  2. I predict that this is just the beginning. The war of good against evil.

  3. That is sad. I don't like it when people are so negative against the church especially when they feel that we have hurt them in some way.
I do know that if you don't offend Satan you will offend God.
This will be a long fight.
